You don't have to leave Weston to enjoy Vermont's charm. Weston is a quintessential Southern Vermont Village with a town green and Gazebo, two waterfalls, two stunning New England Churches with white clapboard steeples—beautiful in any season. Surrounded by the Green Mountains, Weston is home to the Vermont Country Store, Weston Playhouse, Weston Village and Christmas Store, Farrar Mansur House and Museum, which is filled with authentic local heirlooms. The adjacent Old Mill has a fascinationg collection of antique tools and machinery and is grinding grain again for the first time in thirty years! We are very fortunate to have three outstanding galleries: The West River Gallery, The Village Green Gallery and Whales of Vermont Gallery. We are centrally located for day trips to other idyllic Vermont towns. Don't forget to visit our Wilder Memorial Library on the Village Green. Weston is also home to the renowned Weston Antique Show and the Weston Craft Show, both much anticipated foliage season events.

Weston is an idyllic southern vermont village with a town green and bandstand, the west river and waterfalls, museums, shops, the famous Vermont Country Store and galleries all within easy walking distance of the Inn.

    • Farrar Mansur Museum - See what life was like in 18th and 19th century Vermont.
    • Old Mill Museum - See a working restored mill powered by the West River producing flours in the manner of 100 years ago.

    • Village Green Gallery - Photography crafts and glassware by local artists. The gallery also has a coffee/espresso bar for your refreshment. It is a wi-fi hotspot as well.
    • Whales in Vermont - Hand carved whales and other cetaceans by renowned artist Wick Aherns. The gallery also represents local artists with additional sculpture and paintings and prints with a nature theme.
    • West River Gallery - Representing local artists and crafters offering a variety of mediums.

Day Trips from Weston
Weston is centrally located in Southern Vermont allowing easy day trips in any direction to the area's most attractive destinations.

  • Manchester: Great shopping destination offering hundreds of shops and outlets with bargains galore. Manchester also has numerous attractions including:

    • Hildene Robert Todd Lincoln's ancestral home preserved as a museum with lush surrounding gardens.
    • Southern Vermont Arts Center Offering the work of numerous Vermont (as well as others) artists in a lush setting and gardens with ample space for a relaxing picnic lunch.
    • Equinox Skyline Drive Drive the beautiful road to the peak of Mt Equinox, the highest mountain in the area at approximately 3500 feet. From the observation area at the summit there is a breathtaking 360 degree view of beautiful southern Vermont.
    • Fishing on the Battenkill: World class trout fishing with equipment and boat rentals available. Manchester also contains the world headquarters of Orvis with teaching ponds and a flyfishing museum also available.

  • Woodstock and Quechee: Woodstock is a wonderful Vermont village with great shops and galleries, a large village green, and a covered bridge in the middle of town. The Billings Farm & Museum is the gateway to Vermont's rural heritage and a working dairy farm, Open daily, May - October. Four miles to the east is the town of Quechee with a number of attractions of its own.
  • Simon Pearce Glassblowing: Watch the master glassblowers as they create the many pieces in the Simon Pearce collection, then shop for the pieces in their shop and gallery upstairs. Have lunch in the Simon Pearce Restaurant, a glass structure cantilevered out over the river and waterfall with breath-taking views.
  • Vermont Institute of Natural Science: A raptor center where the nature of these magnificent birds is demonstrated in shows several times daily.
  • Quechee Gorge: A walking bridge over the river and surrounding gorge about 250 feet above the river. This can be hiked to from VINS.
  • Chester, Grafton & Newfane: Three beautiful Vermont towns offering an abundance of sites and antiquing and shopping. In Grafton, tour the Grafton Cheese Company and see how our famous local cheddar is crafted.
  • Danby: A small quaint town with shops and galleries reached from Weston by Danby Mt Tabor Road a 14 mile drive through the pristine Green Mountain National Forest
Outdoor Activities

All manner of outdoor activities are available from the Weston and surrounding areas. We are happy to provide you maps and help you arrange any of these activities

  • Golf - There are four nearby golf courses and we are happy to assist you with tee times. Okemo, Stratton, Equinox, Tater Hill Golf Club Horseback Riding along Landgrove Road
  • Tennis - West River Tennis Club is nearby. We can assist you in reservations
  • Hiking: Many hiking trails, including the Appalachian Trail and the Long Trail, are nearby. Some hiking websites at Okemo Valley and Vermont Hiking Guide.
  • Biking: There are many backroads and trails for biking in the area. Check out Vermont Mountain Biking & Cycling Guide and look for trails in Southern Vermont.
  • Swimming is available at nearby Hapgood Pond, a state park maintained by the state offering refreshing swimming and picnic sites.
  • Canoeing can be arranged on the Battenkill. Rentals available.
  • Bromley Thrill Zone - Alpine Slide, rides and thrills, great for kids
  • Horseback Riding - For seasoned riders or beginners alike at Horses for Hire
